Kyle Eastwood and Scott Eastwood can also be seen in the film. Kyle was in charge of the tracks and Scott played in them. Much has been said and much remains to be said. So without further ado, let’s see where Gran Torino was filmed.
Where was Gran Torino filmed?
Gran Torino was mainly filmed in the city of Detroit. The Grosse Pointe Park, Royal Oak, Center Line, Warren, Highland Park were all located in Detroit. Walt Kowalski’s (Clint Eastwood) home is on Rhode Island Street in Highland Park. Pilgrim Street in Highland Park was the location for the Hmong gang house. One of Walt’s sons used to live in a house on Ballantyne Road in Grosse Pointe Shores. The Saint Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Park was used as a church in the film.
Coming to Royal Oak based venues, this is where the Widgren’s Barber Shop was located near Center Street. An interesting fact about the location was that Clint and other producers chose this particular barbershop because of its antique look. Because of the shooting, traffic in that area had to be slowed down. Barbershop owner Ted Widgren granted one of his wishes when he was asked to take on the role of hairdresser in the film.
