The real truth behind Shahid Kapoor signing a Rs 100 crore deal with Netflix

By Subhash K Jha, Sep 24, 2020 – 13:15 hrs IST

It is being claimed by some media houses that Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has signed a deal worth Rs 100 crore with the legendary OTT platform Netflix for several films and series. But when I wanted to know the truth of this news, two reliable sources in Netflix told me that “The news of Shahid Kapoor’s Rs 100 crore deal with Netflix is completely false and there is no truth in it.”

Have not signed any such deal with Shahid Kapoor

“Netflix has not signed any such deal with Shahid. An amount like Rs 100 crore, for any star, however big it may be, is inconsequential. And anyway Shahid is not in the league of Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan-Akshay Kumar. So his stardom is not justified for such a huge amount.” A trusted source told me. Along with this, the source also told that, “We do not know where this news came from, of course no one would have said this from Netflix.”

A Netflix source further added, “Our platform wants to break the star system of Bollywood, not promote it. We strongly believe that the director is the star of the show, be it on the big or small screen. We have introduced four new directors this year. There is still more to come.”
