Sivagami’s role was offered to Sridevi

Actually, Rajamouli first wanted to cast Sridevi for the role of Rajmata Sivagami in his film Bahubali, but when Sridevi refused to do it, the role went to South actress Ramya Krishnan. It was said that Sridevi had demanded a lot of fees for this role, due to which the makers had to say no to her and chose Ramya Krishnan in the role of Sivagami. That fee was actually presented by Boney Kapoor on behalf of Sridevi. After that, in one of his interviews, Rajamouli removed the curtain from the fact that Sridevi had a lot of demands, so she could not be a part of Bahubali.

Sridevi did not like Rajamouli’s statement

However, Sridevi expressed surprise over Rajamouli’s statement and said, “First of all, I cannot believe that he (Rajamouli) would talk like this. Secondly, I do not make any such demands. Whatever happened during Bahubali is a thing of the past. What is the use of talking about it now and why are we talking about it now? There are many roles that I have turned down earlier. That’s why it is totally inappropriate to talk about them.”

And when I contacted Rajamouli regarding this, he however did not deny that he had spoken about Sridevi’s absence in Baahubali. But at the same time, he also expressed his regret that he should not have said such a thing in public. Rajamouli said, “I think it is for the people to decide who they have to believe. But I am sure that I should not have discussed this issue in a public forum. It is a mistake . And I regret it.”
