Shefali Shah is at her peak. After her web show ‘Delhi Crime’ won the Best Drama Series award at the International Emmy Awards last year, the versatile actress’ first directorial project “Someday” has been selected for the International Short Film and Video Competition of the 51st Annual USA Film Festival has gone. The short film directed by Shefali has been placed in the final category of the Oscar-recognized film festival and the final round of judging will take place next week.

Somewhere is the story of two women, united by the umbilical cord and separated by a door. Vidhi, a frontline warrior, is trapped in today’s medical condition. After 15 days on duty, she comes home for a 7-day quarantine. But, can it be called home, where there is only one distance between him and his mother, who is slowly turning herself into a relic due to Alzheimer’s. They talk about the past and the future, with no trace of the present. Some are real, some are imaginary. Whatever was between them, what may not be, and what may someday happen, all these are related to their relationship.

The USA Film Festival, taking place April 21 to 25, is a Dallas-based 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the recognition and promotion of excellence in the film and video arts.

Shefali Shah says, “Someday is my first trial and error in directing. This love of ours has made it to the final selection of the USA Film Festival, and I can’t even describe how excited I am. I sent it to film festivals around the world because I wanted to see what level of direction I am at as a newcomer. And this is such a great assurance that I must have done something right.

Shefali Shah has also won three Best Actor Awards for ‘Delhi Crime’ at the prestigious Jagran Film Festival, iReel Awards and Asian Academy Creative Awards (in Singapore) last year.
