SCOOP: The entire Dhawan family, including Varun Dhawan, earned around Rs 50 crore from Coolie No.

Towards the end of the year 2020, Varun Dhawan entertained the audience with his romantic-comedy film Coolie No. Directed by David Dhawan, the film was a remake of the 1995 film Coolie No. 1 starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. This film of Sara Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan was released on 25 December on the direct OTT platform Amazon Prime Video instead of theatres. Even though the film got mixed response from the audience, Varun Dhawan has charged a hefty fee for this film.

Varun Dhawan collected Rs 25 crore for Coolie No 1

If sources are to be believed, “Barring the last few films, Varun has a good career graph so far. So much so that he is in great demand, so he has many big films ahead. That’s why a lot of buzz was created about Varun’s film Coolie No. This is the reason why Amazon offered a huge amount to the makers for this film. It is being said that Varun has charged Rs 25 crore for this film. This is believed to be his biggest fee till date.”

The source further added, “David Dhawan, who directed Govinda and Karishma’s original Coolie No. 1, helmed the film along with Varun and Sara after 15 years. That’s why he was given Rs 15 crore for this film.”

“Rohit Dhawan, who worked as an assistant director in Coolie No. 1, has been given Rs 7 crore. So overall the entire Dhawan family earned around Rs 50 crore from Coolie No. 1.”

Coming to Varun’s other films, he recently wrapped up the first schedule of Raj Mehta’s Jug Jug Jio.
