SS Rajamouli’s Telugu-made Baahubali, despite being dubbed in Hindi, created history with the box office collection of the Hindi belt. Star Network buys television and digital rights of SS Rajamouli’s RRR
And now the latest update is coming about this period action drama film RRR that the makers have recently signed a lucrative deal for their film. Signing a jackpot deal even before its release is a big deal for any film. If reports are to be believed, the makers have already sold the television and digital rights of RRR to Star Network. And this deal has happened in crores of rupees.
A source told about this, “RRR is touted as one of the most awaited films of the year 2021. So Star Network made an offer of Rs 200 crore to the makers to buy the rights of the film. Star Network is spread across not only Hindi speaking belt but also Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam speaking audience. At the same time, its streaming platform Disney + Hotstar is also the platform with the most subscribers among the existing OTT platforms. That’s why Star Network offered such a huge amount for the digital and TV rights of RRR. Because he is confident that this film will prove to be a big film and will be popular among the multilingual audience.”
First to be released in theaters
However, the source also clarified an important aspect saying, “RRR will hit TV and Digital (Star and Disney+ Hotstar) shortly after its theatrical release. RRR will not release directly on OTT platform under any circumstances. SS Rajamouli’s film is larger than life which is specially made for theatres.
It is a fictional story revolving around India’s freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad respectively. Ram Charan will be seen as Alluri Sitaramaraju in the film while Jr NTR Komaram will be seen as Bheem. Produced by DVV Danayya under DVV Entertainment and directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR will be released simultaneously in ten Indian languages worldwide.
