Bollywood Hungama, about the untitled film of Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi, directed by Shakun Batra, had reported two days ago that the film may release on the direct OTT platform instead of the theater due to its subject matter. Made under the banner of Dharma Productions, the film is based on an extra-marital affair and hence has some high-octane intimate scenes. The makers do not want the film to fall prey to the censor board’s scissors as it will destroy the entire impact of their film. That’s why the makers want to release their film directly on the OTT platform.
Now the makers have also started talking to Disney + Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video regarding this. However, it is not yet confirmed on which OTT platform the film will release.
A reliable source told Bollywood Hungama exclusively, “Deepika has become a fitness trainer in this Shakun Batra film and will also be seen alongside Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi in pivotal roles. Now because the film is based on extra-marital affair and depicts the complicated relationship between two sisters, played by Deepika and Ananya. Given the theme of the film, there are many intimate scenes in the film which the Censor Board will object to. And if those scenes are cut in the editing of the film, then a big impact of the film will be completely lost.
On the other hand, if it is released on Disney + Hotstar, then it will not be able to fit in its content because it has family oriented content. On the other hand, Amazon has already come in the discussion about its content. Earlier, the makers also had talks with Netflix.
