After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has given some relief to Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty, who is trapped in the investigation of drugs angle case, after a full year. A Mumbai court has accepted a petition by Riya Chakraborty in which she had appealed to unblock her bank account.
Riya Chakraborty gets relief
Actually, after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the NCB probing the drug case had frozen Riya’s accounts. The special court on Wednesday ordered the defreezing of his accounts. The court allowed Riya to use her bank accounts under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The court has also directed him to return his gadgets like MacBook Pro and iPhone.
Riya said in her petition that she is an actress and model by profession and NCB had frozen her bank accounts and FD on 16 September 2020 without any reason. Riya said that she needs to operate her accounts to pay salaries to employees and pay various taxes, including GST. Riya also said that her brother is also dependent on her.
Relief on conditions and affidavit
The defrosting of Riya’s bank account has been permitted subject to conditions and undertaking on Affidavit. The affidavit states that till the end of the trial, the amount in Riya’s bank account on September 16, 2020, should remain the same till further orders and if required. The judge agreed to return Riya’s phone and laptop after due verification and identification. Riya had also demanded this in her petition. The court has got Riya filled in an indemnity bond of Rs 1 lakh to give back the laptop and mobile.
Let us inform that after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, after the drugs angle came to the fore, the NCB had arrested many people including Riya and her brother Shauvik on the charges of smuggling of drugs. However, Riya and Sauvik were later released on bail. The CBI is currently investigating Sushant’s case.
