Karthik Aryan had released his first look from his upcoming film Dhamaka a few days back, after which the curiosity about the film got aroused among the people. Directed by Ram Madhvani, Dhamaka is actually a Hindi remake of 2013 South Korean film The Terror Live in which Karthik will play the character of Arjun Pathak, a journalist by profession. But we hear that Kartik Aaryan was not the first choice for Dhamaka. First this film was offered to Taapsee Pannu and then to Kriti Sanon but both of them refused to do this film. After which the makers made some changes in the script and offered the film to Karthik which he accepted.
Karthik Aryan was not the first choice of Dhamaka
“Dhamaka, directed by Ram Madhvani, was actually a female-centric film in which an actress was to play the lead role. So this film was first offered to Taapsee Pannu, but she refused to do the film.” Informed sources told.
The film was initially directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Azure Entertainment. After Taapsee’s refusal, the film was offered to Kriti Sanon. Although Kriti liked her character a lot, she later left the film without giving any reason. “After Kriti left Dhamaka, Azure Entertainment sold the film to Ram Madhvani. While Rahul Dholakia was busy with other projects, he also refused to direct it. After this Ram Madhvani decided to make this film with RSVP. With this, he rewrote it and changed it to a male centric film instead of a female centric film.” A source very close to the industry told us.
A chain of events unfolds in the film’s story when a reporter receives a stranger call from a man who threatens to blow up the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Kartik will be playing the role of a journalist in this film. But this journalist’s life changes when he covers the live broadcast of Mumbai terrorist attack. Based entirely in Mumbai, the film is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Ram Madhvani Films (with co-producer Amita Madhvani).
