Review: 83 has emerged as a winner not only on the pitch but also on the screen. Those who have seen this victory of India, they will be happy to see it once again on screen, definitely watch it. Rating : 4 stars

It is quite a difficult task to show that historic victory of Indian sports history on the film screen. And when this historic victory took place several decades ago, it becomes even more challenging to film. Apart from accurate facts and story, the storyteller needs to recreate that era as well as do justice to the characters who have contributed significantly to this victory.

You relive those moments when you watch 83. Of course, most viewers don’t know the backstory or what actually happened behind the scenes. The film becomes worth watching because of that reason, apart from this, there are other reasons to watch the film.

Story of 83 is an attempt to tell the story behind what happened to the Indian cricket team and the players before winning the World Cup in 1983 and their mood.

First of all, let us give you brief information about the plot of 83… The 1983 World Cup will be held in the UK. Kapil Dev [रणवीर सिंह] Under the leadership of the Indian cricket team is ready to participate in the midst of zero expectation. Not only the international media, even the cricket fans do not expect that the Indians will be victorious.

Director Kabir Khan and his team of writers have brought together unheard episodic episodes from before Indians became champions. The humiliation, the nervousness, the anxiety, the pressure of facing many legendary players on the pitch – 83 has it all.

There are some minor flaws in the first half. commentary box [बोमन ईरानी] The entire conversation – while all matches are being played – is in English. Agreed, reality has to be shown, but the lines spoken by Boman could have been in Hindi. It will certainly be a bit difficult to understand for those who cannot speak or understand English.

Some scenes of the first half may be trimmed. Some sequences look stretched, which should have been further sharpened during editing for better effect.

There are some moments in the film that will leave you feeling emotional. There is a special sequence of a kid telling Kapil Dev that he will not be watching Indians playing matches. Apart from this, there is another emotional sequence that comes during the interval, when the Indians have to face a humiliating defeat by the rival team. Both these sequences are superb.

Due to the right writing, things come to the fore in the second half and sparkle. At this juncture, the introduction scene of Deepika Padukone brings life. Such tight screenwriting is seen till the climax of the film. The climax of the film is enthusiastic and I am sure the audience will welcome it with applause and whistles.

The best part of the film is reserved for the last. On this occasion, there is an entry of Kapil Dev who narrates some unheard stories till now which are worthy of praise.

Kabir Khan’s direction is superb. 83 is a tough film and despite the presence of capable actors, the film would not have been as impressive if the sports drama had a lesser execution. Kabir gives his best shot, winning the second and third acts, which the audience takes with them as a memory as they exit the theatre. He skillfully balances drama, tears and laughter from the pitch to the dressing room.

There is not much scope of music in this film, but there is one song that will stick on your lips and that is ‘Lehra Do’. The background score is impressive. The DOP captures the mood of the film with precision.

83 is full of cast and all the actors play their respective characters with integrity, surely the lead actor of the film Ranveer Singh is the most brilliant of all. He gives a great performance. 83 is one of those movies that proves his versatility. He excels in a character that has been crafted for him. Deepika Padukone is excellent, her presence makes the film more endearing. Pankaj Tripathi is in excellent form. His presence on screen gives a good feeling.

Director Kabir gives ample footage to each and every member of the lead cast of the film. But the one who shines the most among them all are Jeeva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna and Ammi Virk.

Overall, 83 has emerged as the winner not only on the pitch but also on screen. Those who have seen this victory of India will be happy to see it once again on screen. And those who have not become a witness to this victory, they will get a chance to see how that historic victory was achieved. Do see it.
