Veteran Bollywood actor Jagdeep passed away on Wednesday at the age of 81. He was battling many diseases related to old age. Jagdeep’s real name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, who worked in more than 400 films. Jagdeep gained a lot of popularity with the role of Soorma Bhopali in Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s famous film Sholay in the year 1975. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the entire Bollywood due to the death of Jagdeep. Bollywood stars are paying a sad heartfelt tribute to Jagdeep on social media. Recently, veteran actress Asha Parekh shared some things related to Jagdeep.
Asha Parekh remembers Jagdeep through films
Actress Asha Parekh, who has worked with Jagdeep, said, “He had a lot to offer as an actor. But he introduced himself as a comedian, just like my other co-stars with whom I did films like Rajendranath etc.
“You will not believe but Jagdeep ji was my co-star in 1954, when I was just 12 years old. We were both child artists. We both worked together as child actors in the film Dhobi Doctor. The film was produced by Bimal Roy and directed by Fani Majumdar.
Talking about Jagdeep and his film Dhobi Doctor, Asha further added, “He played the role of a child who was molested. I could not see him in such condition. I became his partner in the film. After that my character grew up to be played by Usha Kiran while Jagdeepji was played by Abhi Bhattacharya.”

After many years, Asha and Jagdeep did one more time together. Talking about this film, Asha said, “That was Kalia film, in which I became Amitabh Bachchan’s sister-in-law. Jagdeep ji did a cameo in it, which is still remembered today. Jagdeep played a character in the film whose car gets damaged in front of his eyes. Jagdeep ji did not have any dialogues. But his gestures were worth watching.”
