World famous Padma Shri runner Milkha Singh, known as Flying Sikh, passed away late night. Milkha Singh, 91, breathed his last on the late night of 18 June at 11:24 in Chandigarh. Flying Sikh lost the battle of life 30 days after being hit by Covid-19. Although he had recovered from Kovid and a few days ago his Kovid-19 report came negative. After this he was shifted from Kovid ICU ward to Medical ICU ward. But due to ill health there again, he died on Friday. Just 5 days ago, his wife Nirmal Milkha Singh, who was the former National Volleyball captain, passed away from Kovid-19.
Farhan Akhtar pays tribute to Milkha Singh
Milkha Singh is survived by his golfer son Jeev Milkha Singh and three daughters. While the whole country is in mourning due to the death of Milkha Singh, there has been a wave of mourning in Bollywood due to his death. Bollywood stars have paid emotional tributes to Milkha Singh through social media. At the same time, actor Farhan Akhtar, who played the role of Milkha Singh on the silver screen in the film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in 2013, has also expressed grief over the death of Flying Sikh and has written an emotional letter.
Farhan wrote, “A part of me still can’t believe that you are no more with us. Perhaps it is because of the same stubborn nature that I got from you, that once the mind has thought, then it does not go beyond it. not give up . And the truth is that you will live forever. Because you were kind, loving and down to earth. You were the representative of ideas. You were the representative of how a person sitting on his knees can touch the sky with hard work and dedication. You have touched the lives of all of us. Anyone who could know you as a father, a friend, is lucky. Heartfelt love for you.”
Apart from Farhan, many celebs including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Taapsee Pannu, Anupam Kher, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan, Raveena Tandon, have paid tribute to him through social media.
