Akshay Kumar’s first historical period drama film Prithviraj has been embroiled in controversies even before its release. There is a fierce protest in Ajmer regarding Prithviraj. People have demanded to boycott the film. A large number of people reached the collector’s office. People registered their protest by blocking the road. Actually, the Gujjar community of Rajasthan has threatened the film Prithviraj. The Gujjars claim that the word Rajput has been used in the film for Maharaja Prithviraj Chauhan, who belonged to the Gujjar community, not Rajput. However, the leaders of Rajput society completely rejected his claim.
Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj
Gurjar Samaj says that if the word ‘Rajput’ continues to be used for Prithviraj Chauhan, then they will not allow the film to be released. Shri Rajput Karni Sena’s national spokesperson Vijender Singh Shaktawat said that Gurjars were Gauchars in the beginning, which later turned into Gujjars and then Gurjars. They originally come from Gujarat and hence got this name. It is a word related to place and not related to caste.
Even before this there was a controversy regarding the poster of the film. The people of Gurjar community had expressed displeasure over the look of Akshay as Prithviraj in the film.
The 2017 Miss World Manushi Chhillar will be seen as Rani Sanyogita alongside Akshay in the film. Manushi is making her Bollywood debut with this film. Apart from these, Sanjay Dutt will be seen in the role of Mohammad Gauri, while Sonu Sood is playing the role of noted poet Chandbardai, who composed Prithviraj Raso on Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. Poet Chandbardai was very close to Emperor Prithviraj. So with this role, Sonu’s role will go along with Akshay in the film.
Prithviraj, directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is to be released in theaters on January 21, 2022, but in view of the growing Corona crisis, the film’s release has become a suspense. Currently, the makers are busy preparing to release the trailer of the film.
