Content queen Ekta Kapoor and cinematic genius Anurag Kashyap, who have previously jointly produced path-breaking films like Udta Punjab and Lootera, are back together again for their new project ‘Dobaara’. The film stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role and Anurag will be directing this new age thriller! The makers today released an interesting teaser, sharing a glimpse of the upcoming film featuring both Taapsee Pannu and Anurag. Interestingly, Dobara will be produced by Cult Movies – a new division under Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, along with Sunir Khetarpal’s Athena and Gaurav Bose’s The Vermillion World Productions.
Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap come together again
With Cult Movies, Ekta intends to bring back unconventional, avant garde content. The powerhouse producer is committed in bringing in clutter-breaking cinema, which will help redefine the movie watching experience. This new division of Balaji Telefilms will collaborate with directors and writers who do not shy away from telling bold stories.
Talking about the film and collaboration, Ekta Kapoor shared, “I am thrilled that Anurag is directing the first film under Cult Movies, starring Taapsee in the lead. Neither subscribes to the Conventional and has always crossed borders to distribute different content. I can’t wait to show the world 2.12.”
Director Anurag Kashyap says, “With Dagaara we want to present a new story to the audience and I am very excited for it. This will be my third collaboration with Taapsee and this time I try to bring an interesting new take on thrillers.”
Says Taapsee, “It will be a one-of-its-kind thriller. I have been very lucky with the thriller genre so far in my career and I always look forward to propel myself under this genre. It will be more because it has been directed by someone like Anurag and Ekta has backed it. This is my second collaboration with Anurag after Manmarziyaan and Suneer after Badla, so I know there is a lot to expect from it. Also this is the first time I am working with a super woman like Ekta, so it will definitely be a memorable experience.”
Ruchika Kapoor Sheikh shared, “Looking at the work and legacy of Alt Entertainment, Ekta and I are excited to present ‘Cult Movies’, with which we are committed to bring and promote relevant, genre-bending stories . Dobara is our first film under the re-branded banner and we look forward to working with Anurag and Taapsee. Cult aims to disrupt the content space while working with new age writers and directors.”
Finally Sunir Khetarpal says, “It is a special film with some special collaborators. First with Anurag and Ekta and second film with Taapsee after the hugely successful Badla. Looking forward to an amazing journey producing this high concept thriller.”
