In 2018, Aditya Dhar’s directorial debut and Ronnie Screwvala produced Uri: The Surgical Strike surprised everyone by receiving rave reviews and turned out to be a blockbuster hit at the box office. The film has won three National Awards where Vicky Kaushal was given the National Award for his performance, while director Aditya Dhar has also won the coveted award for his direction. As the film completes two years of release today, the Vicky Kaushal-Aditya-Ronnie trio has released the first look of their next collaboration, Ashwatthama. Vicky Kaushal’s Ashwatthama is a scientific film and is based on a character from the chapter of Mahabharata.

Aditya shared, “We are all overwhelmed for the love that Uri has received over the past two years, and of course with that love comes the added responsibility of living up to the expectations for our next collaboration. With Ashwatthama, we are striving hard to present stunning visuals that audiences across India have never seen before. I promise, it will not be just a film, but an experience. More than the pressure, I am taking this film as a responsibility to tell this epic story the way it is supposed to be told and I hope the audience showers Ashwatthama with the same love they showered on Uri “

Shooting will start this year

“Every film has its own journey, however, when the team of Uri, a National Award winning blockbuster, comes together, the expectations are justified. The story will be told in a big way, the characters have depth and the visual effects will be full. Language is no barrier for this film. We will start shooting this year. I can’t wait to see the translation of Aditya’s vision on screen. I would like to say that this is by far the most ambitious film we have attempted and we would love to take it to a wider audience in India and across the world.” Ronnie Screwvala said.

Vicky has described Ashwatthama as the biggest film of his career and feels working again with Aditya and Ronnie is a homecoming for him.

Vicky says, “Ashwathama is Aditya’s dream project and it required a visionary like Ronnie to present it to the audience. It will be a new space for me as an actor where I will be exposed to new forms of technology along with acting. Can’t wait to start my journey with this amazing team soon.”
